Weekend Planner: Veterans Day Parade and Local Author Returns to Town

Why Go: There will be a reading and signing by Alice Schellhorn Magrane, who was Director of Guidance in the Winchester Public Schools for many years, retiring in 2008. The author will donate a portion of the sale of each copy of Snoshoo the Stowaway Bunny to the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

2. VETERANS DAY PARADE

Where/when: , Friday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m.

Why go: The parade begins at the high school, as the procession will travel around the Common before ending up at Town Hall where veterans will be honored.

Why Go: Head over to the Regent Theatre in Arlington to check out Deborah Henson-Concant live in concert.

Pricing: $22 advance ($25 day of show), $15 Students/Seniors, $50 VIP (VIP includes exclusive artist reception and 1st choice seats)

Where/When: , 131 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington; 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12

Why Go: Because you've almost certainly heard the commercials about that new spiced and smoky rum for the "modern day adventurer."

Where/When: , 1605 Massachusetts Ave; 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13

Why Go: The Metropolitan Wind Symphony's first concert of the season opens with "Sousa on the Hoof," a piece put together years ago by MWS Music director Lewis Buckley, and its title piece, "At Kitty O'Shea's" is an Irish Folk Song Suite for wind orchestra.
