Escape winter and surround yourself with warm, lush color at Mahoney’s fourth annual tropical event, Orchids: Your Winter Escape. From Saturday, February 8 through Sunday, February 16, Mahoney’s in Winchester will fill their greenhouses with colorful and unique selections of exotic orchids and houseplants, creating a lush, tropical rainforest for anyone to visit.

“It’s amazing to see how much the greenhouse transforms for this event,” says Natalie Decker, Marketing Manager at Mahoney’s Garden Centers. “You actually feel as though you’ve stepped out of cold, New England and into the warmth of a tropical rainforest. It’s a great way to escape the wintry weather, experience beautiful displays of exotic color and bask in the glorious smell of a rainforest.”

The event kicks-off with an opening-day reception filled with a myriad of colors on Saturday, February 8 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Wind your way through the tropical paradise while sampling complimentary wine and cheese. The night will feature breathtaking displays of tropical plants, including orchids, air plants, ferns, bromeliads, palms, succulents, and more. It’s an excellent opportunity to find that special Valentine’s Day gift that will last for months, even years.

Throughout the event, Mahoney’s will have experts on-hand to show just how easy and inspiring it can be to care for and decorate with orchids, air plants and other tropical plants. Visit their Design Bar any time throughout the event to create your own terrarium, garden display, or funky air-plant garden. Stop by any of their free seminars for a wealth of information on orchids, tropicals, and more.

The week-long event finishes off with a Kid’s Day on February 16. A variety of hands-on workshops are scheduled throughout the day, perfect for kids. Plus they’ll leave with a free mini-succulent of their own.

Fend-off those winter-blues and escape into a world of color at Mahoney’s. For more information please visit www.MahoneysGarden.com or call (781) 729-5900.
