En Ka Society Announces First Quarter Grants& Seeks Third Quarter Grant Requests

The En Ka Society of Winchester is pleased to announce the recipients of its First Quarter Grants.  The following organizations received financial gifts for use as described:

Community Lantern Walk - A walk to raise awareness for coping with stress for all ages., wasg ranted money to purchase supplies for the walk and the web site.Parent to Parent – Provides Free parenting programs for the  Winchester community, was granted a system to enable using wireless microphones.

Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community was granted funding for the subscription for an anonymous Text Tip Line

Winchester Public Library was granted three museum passes for use by Winchester residents.

Council for Social Concern - A program that services Winchester residents with food and meals, was granted money for the Woburn Food Pantry.

Wright-Locke Farm was granted assistance with band costs for “Family Fun Night” for the Summer of 2014.

Live, Learn, Act – funded students at Winchester’s Acera and Ambrose Schools to participate in the Winchester –based non-profit, “Live, Learn, Act”, whose goal is to empower American students to learn and act globally: to become international citizens through education and relationship building with students in developing countries and to harness their potential to improve the lives of the world's most vulnerable children. The project “Show Me Your School” allowed students from around the world to document their daily activities through photography and share it with other children around the world.

The En Ka Society is a volunteer non-profit women’s organization that provides aid, through volunteer service and fundraising, to local charities and organizations, which are charitable in nature, and benefit the Winchester community. Local non-profit organizations may apply for En Ka grants, which are awarded quarterly.

Since 2000, the En Ka Society has awarded over $1 Million through more than 400 grants to local organziations that address the needs of students and youth, the elderly, the physically challenged and non-profit organizations devoted to providing community enrichment and/or health and social services .  Please note that requests to fund salaries or fixed operating expenses cannot be considered. A project budget and organization financial statement must be included with the requests for funding, if available.
