Home Offices are Becoming a Requirement of More and More Homebuyers

Real Estate professionals are always being asked about what buyers are looking for in their home searches.  Often this question is put forward by current homeowners contemplating upgrades to their properties.  More and more real estate agents  are reporting that buyers are looking for a home office.  The interest in home office space is understandable as workplaces became more mobile, but another group , "Mompreneurs" have made the home office as essential as the nursery for women starting a family.

The phenomena of women creating home-based businesses isn't new, but the growth of social media for exchanging ideas and marketing products has contributed to an exploding economic trend..  These new entreprenuers are not limiting their endeavors to cookies and cake decorating as was the case in years past when many moms turned their hobbies into very successful businesses.  Today's "mompreneurs" inspired by those successful pioneers, have brought skills honed in the offices and board rooms of large corporations.  They are stay at home mothers who by choice have become corporate dropouts.  

These businesses run the gamut from parenting and childcare services such as Baby Einstein to beauty services like Nail Taxi to Health and Fitness, StrollerStrides.  Last year the website babble name the 50 top momprenuers in the country and The new York Times last December noted "If Moms Can't Find It, They Invent It".

Bottom line for homeowners is to consider turning unused space into a home office.  It could be an unused bedroom, attic or basement space.  This type of conversion is one of the least expensive changes that could make your property more msrketable in the future and help you organize your life today.
