Dog Attacks Winchester Resident

A Rottweiler bit a Winchester resident's dog.

responded to Squire Road for a report of a dog attack on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

A Thornberry Road man was walking his dog – a nine-year-old Tibetan Terrier - along the intersection of Squire Road and Thornberry Wednesday afternoon.

The man told police that a Rottweiler lives in the area, and he saw the owner of that dog standing by her car, but since he didn’t see the dog, he continued walking down the street.

According to the Thornberry man, the Rottweiler came racing out from behind the house and bit his dog on its leg. As the man pulled the dog away, he kicked the Rottweiler, as he fell to the ground.

The man was uninjured, but his dog needed to have surgery for muscle damage from the bite.

The owner of the Rottweiler – a Squire Road woman – told police that the two dogs started barking at each other, when the Thornberry man started kicking the Rottweiler, at which time he fell and landed on his dog.

According to the veterinarian, the terrier had three puncture wounds consistent with a dog bite.
