Injured MBTA officer and Winchester native Richard Donohue Jr. and the American Red Cross announced last Wednesday on Facebook that they will join forces to promote a summer blood drive, a release by Woburn's Social Capital Inc. states.

Donohue, 33, of Woburn, who was recently released from Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown, was wounded during a shoot-out in Watertown with the Boston Marathon bombing suspects in April.

Donahue mentioned on his Facebook page that he is excited about this partnership with the American Red Cross to promote summer blood donations.

The blood drive will take place at the Marriott Copley Hotel in Boston on Thursday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
