Witnesses saw two men break into three Winchester homes in the middle of the day last week.

On Tuesday, July 12 three homes in Winchester were broken into.

Prior to arriving in Winchester, the intruder robbed another three homes in Arlington.

According to the , the man entered the homes by breaking through the window. According to Winchester Police Lieutenant, Peter MacDonnell, the man cut himself on one of the windows and left blood inside all three of the homes.

"We searched all the surrounding hospitals to see if anyone was admitted with the suspect's description, but there wasn't," MacDonnell said.

At the first Winchester home, along Wedgemere Avenue, the man's neighbor saw a white van parked in front of the home. She said it looked like a business van and had the words "delivery" and "care" written on it.

"He left a laptop he took in Arlington and we found it at the break in Winchester," MacDonnell said.

The woman said she observed a short (5-4, 5-6) pudgy man, possibly hispanic, exit the van and walk up to the home. Shortly after she saw that man run back into the van as the home's alarm went off.

According to the witness, she then saw another man exit the Wedgemere Avenue home through the front door. She described him as 5-10, 6-0, clean cut and medium build. He was wearing brown shorts, a cap and possibly in his mid-20s.

The other neighbors did not see anyone. But they told Winchester Police they were not expecting any contractors.

The van drove towards Wildwood Street and another witness described it as being a "cleaners" van.

Two other homes were broken into along Oxford Street, at both residents a trail of blood was left in the homes. And according to Winchester Police, the only item stolen from the three houses was a watch.

"These guys were real brazen," MacDonnell said. "Normally you don't see a break like this through the window in the middle of the day with neighbors there. Maybe because of their method and with the alarms going off they felt like they had to get in and out so quickly they didn't have time to get anything."

Winchester Police are still investigating the breaks and are waiting for blood test results from the samples left at the scene.

"People just need to keep an eye out for their neighbors," MacDonnell said.
