Jewelry Stolen From Arlington Street Home During Burglary

At 3:37 p.m. March 4, Winchester Police responded to Arlington Street for a report of a past breaking and entering and burglary. A side door adjacent to the garage was kicked in, and the suspect(s) appeared to have entered the home through the basement door at the front of the house, according to police. The suspect(s) rummaged through boxes in the attic, but nothing was missing, according to police. Several pieces of jewelry, with some items valued between $2,000 and $6,200, were stolen from an armoire in the residence, according to police. The burglary reportedly happened in the morning to early afternoon hours before the homeowner returned at 3:15 p.m., according to police. A report was taken.

March 4

9:31 a.m.: Police responded to the Ridge Street area for a report of a single-car accident. A Toyota Camry traveled over a 12-inch retaining wall in a driveway on Ridge Street, according to police. The vehicle sideswiped a tree and struck multiple bushes, according to police. The driver, who could not get out of his driver's side door because the door was wedge against a tree or the passenger's side due to a recent hip injury, was freed from the car and taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, and the vehicle was towed from the scene, according to police. The bushes and retaining wall sustained damage, and the incident occurred on private property, according to police. A report was taken.

10:55 p.m.: Police called to Winchester Hospital for a report of a disturbance and assault and battery on a hospital security officer by a patient. A man was reportedly out of control and hospital staff tried to restrain him as he attempted to escape, according to police. The man allegedly bit the back of a security officer's neck while police were attempting to connect a handcuff to a strap and attaching it to the bed. The man was brought to the hospital the day after he was allegedly hit by a car in Lexington due to the injuries he suffered, according to police. The man was reportedly bleeding and suffering from alcohol withdrawals, and he also had two seizures after being admitted to the hospital, according to police. Police filed a criminal complaint against a 50-year-old Bedford man, charging him with assault and battery. A report was taken.

March 5

9:41 a.m.: A man visited Metropolitan Credit Union to report credit card fraud. The man claimed that a fraudulent charge of $157.73 was made on March 3. The credit union, located in Burlington, claimed that there were four people, including the Winchester man, that reported fraudulent credit card activity that day. A report was taken.

11:48 a.m.: Police spotted a man with an active warrant sitting on a wall at the corner of Washington and Cross Streets. Mark Stevenson, 57, of 503 Washington St., Winchester, was arrested on a warrant. During the arrest, Stevenson's license was seized because it had been revoked, according to police. A report was taken.

March 6

6:05 p.m.: Police called to the intersection of Salem and Main Streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports. 

March 7

11:40 a.m.: Police responded to Plato Terrace for a report of a phone scam. A report was taken.

March 8

9:23 a.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports. 

10:50 a.m.: Police responded to the intersection of Bacon, Church and Fletcher Streets for a report a two-vehicle accident with no transports or tows.

2:42 p.m.: Police called to Cross Street on a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.
