Medford Teen Faces Drug Possession Charge After High-Speed Pursuit in Winchester

At 1:07 p.m. July 18, Winchester police attempted to stop a black Lexus allegedly displaying two different license plates in the in the area of Shore and Skillings Roads, according to a police report. 

The vehicle, carrying four males, sped away from police in the Washington Street area at an estimated 70 miles per hour, but was later found parked on the wrong side of the road facing east uphill on Washington toward Highland Avenue, according to the report. Officers later found three of the four teens, and a 16-year-old Medford teen was arrested and charged with possession of a class D substance, marijuana, with intent to distribute, according to the report. 

An 18-year-old Medford teen was cited for operating a vehicle without a license, attaching plates to a vehicle, forged/attached inspection sticker, failing to stop for a police officer, improper passing, marked lanes violation, red light violation, operating to endanger, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to the report.  

According to a second police report, police spoke with another 18-year-old Medford teen and the teen told police that he was with the 16-year-old when the 16-year-old purchased 15 grams of marijuana in a drug deal. The 18-year-old told police he knew it was the 16-year-old’s marijuana because he smoked some with him earlier in the day, according to the report.

Fifteen individually wrapped baggies allegedly containing marijuana were found in the glove compartment of the Lexus, according to the report. The 16-year-old had been reported as a missing person after running away that Monday, according to a report. The arrested teen, who was held because he was deemed a flight risk, was expected to appear in Lowell Juvenile Court at a later date, according to the report.

8:22 p.m.: Police responded to Bruce Street for a report of a stolen bicycle, according to a police report. The caller reported riding the bicycle to a boat club where he works at 3 p.m., parking it unlocked at a bike rack and when he returned at 8 p.m. it was missing. The Tequesta bicycle is described as a beat-up 20-inch women’s mountain bike with curved hand grips and broken front gears, according to the report.

July 18

9:23 a.m.: Police called to Main Street for a report of a past larceny from an unlocked vehicle, according to a police report. The caller reported parking his 1999 Suburban at the corner of Clark and Main Streets and sometime overnight someone stole his fanny pack, which contained keys, wallet and credit and debit cards. All the items were later found up the street except for the credit and debit cards, according to the report. The caller told police that he spoke with his bank and the cards had been used at a Walgreens in Woburn at 8:29 p.m. to purchase gift cards and to make a charity donation, according to the report. The store provided security footage for police to review.

July 19

2:15 p.m.: Police responded to the intersection of Cambridge, Church and High Streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident, according to a police report. No tows or transports reported.

4:53 p.m.: Police conducted a detail at the Middlesex Fells Reservation in the area of North Reservoir, according to a police report. Two people from Somerville were cited for trespassing in the town’s water supply, as one was reportedly in the reservoir while the other’s dog was in it.

5:50 p.m.: Police called to the ball field at Parkhurst School on Andrews Road for a report of damage to the town-owned field caused by an all-terrain-vehicle and a dirt bike, according to a police report. Off-road vehicles are prohibited from the fields and public ways, according to the report. Several spots on the field were damaged, as grass was torn up completely in some sections, according to the report. Police took photographs of the damage done to the field, the report adds. 

July 20

6:48 p.m.: Police conducted a detail at the Middlesex Fells Reservation in the area of Middle and North Reservoirs, according to a police report. Four people were cited for trespassing in the town’s water supplies—two in Middle and two in North, the report adds.
