New Hampshire Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing from Winchester Construction Site

A Pelham, New Hampshire man was arrested Friday, Sept. 30 after stealing over 100 steel plates from a Winchester construction site.

Justin Guilbault, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts larceny over $2,500 and one count of possession of burglarious tools.

According to Lt. Peter MacDonnell, on the night of Sept. 21, Guilbault allegedly stole 97 steel plates used for safety rails from a construction site on Lowell Avenue. The plates weigh 120-pounds each and go for $300 a plate.

A few days later there was another report of stolen plates, MacDonnell said. And the Winchester Police put surveillance in the area, assigning an undercover officer to the location.

“We put an officer there to monitor the business during the overnight and early morning hours.” MacDonnell said.

Thursday, Sept. 29 was the second night of surveillance when Winchester Police saw a man drive up to the site and start to put the plates in his car.

“At 5:15 a.m. early Friday morning the officer saw the plates being loading into the car and he called for backup,” MacDonnell said. “Two other Winchester units pulled in and arrested him.”
