Davis Squared, a “fun and funky” gift shop in, well, Somerville’s Davis Square, announced Thursday afternoon that it’s opening a store in Arlington Center at the end of the month.

The boutique is moving into the recently vacated Main Event Tuxedo spot at 487 Massachusetts Ave. (which is to the left of Punjab). The new location will fittingly be called Arlington Centered or “aC” for short, according to the store’s press release. Davis Squared also goes by “d2.”

The 17-year-old arrested in connection with Monday's shooting of another 17-year-old near Warren Street was arraigned in Malden District Court on Tuesday morning, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office

Tyrell Berberena, Jr., 17 of Malden, was arraigned on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, according to a press release from the DA's Office.

The 17-year-old victim sustained "serious injuries" in the shooting according to the DA's Office. Malden Patch previously reported he was taken to Mass. General Hospital. Berberena allegedly  when the shooting happened, the DA's Office said.

The former executive director of the Medford Housing Authority has been barred from public employment in Massachusetts, according to Attorney General Martha Coakley. Robert Covelle, 59, of Stoneham, r following a federal audit that found the authority failed to follow procurement procedures and also handed out projects without putting them out to public bid. Under an agreement with the Attorney General, Covelle is banned from public office for six years and pay a $5,000 fine.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston helped an injured swan Tuesday afternoon at  in Melrose, according to a rescue technician.

Around noon, the Animal Rescue League received a call from a concerned citizen about a swan entangled in fishing line at Ell Pond, according to senior rescue technician Danielle Genter.

"When I first arrived, I could not find the injured swan but did see the other (three) members of its family," Genter said. "Diane Kurkjian, the canine control officer for Melrose, saw my vehicle and came over to assist. We found the young swan all alone on the banks of the pond near West Emerson Street."
