Police Investigating Several Vehicle Break-ins, Thefts in Winchester

Winchester police are investigating several recent vehicle break-ins and thefts in the North and South Gateway section of town, according to police reports.

At 7:32 a.m. July 12, Winchester police responded to South Gateway for a report of larceny from a vehicle, according to a police report. The driver’s side window of a man’s black 2011 Honda Civic was shattered and the inside of the vehicle was ransacked, according to the report. The man’s wallet and other personal possessions were found scattered across his lawn, and between $30 and $40 was take from the wallet, according to the report. The man claimed he heard a car alarm sounding around 11:45 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. overnight in the area of Ox Pasture and North Gateway where several other vehicles were also broken into in a similar fashion, the report adds.

At 7:55 a.m., police responded to Ox Pasture for a report of a theft from a vehicle, according to a police report. The rear passenger’s side window of a blue 2011 Infinity G37 sedan was found shattered and inside the car was ransacked, and  black leather Samsonite work bag was reported stolen. Some work documents inside the bag were also taken, and police advised the man to contact his work and bank about the situation, as well as monitor financial accounts for unauthorized charges.

At 8:07 a.m., police were called to North Gateway for a report of a theft from a vehicle, according to a police report. The front passenger’s side window of a Toyota 4Runner SUV was smashed and a black Apple iPod Touch, valued at $300, was stolen from the center console, according to the report.

At 2:47 p.m.,  a woman visited the police station to report a past theft from a vehicle parked on Yale Street, according to a police report. The woman claimed that someone entered her unlocked rental vehicle, a 2013 Kia Forte, and stole her iPod sometime overnight July 10-11, according to the report.

At 9:50 p.m., police responded to South Gateway again for a report of a theft from a vehicle, according to a police report. A woman claims her pocketbook containing a Fidelity bank statement and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses was taken, according to the report. The items were stolen from the woman’s unlocked 2008 Toyota Sienna sometime between 8 p.m. July 11 and 6:30 a.m. July 12, according to the report.
