Police Log: Bicycle Related Thefts

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

At 8:51 p.m. on Aug. 29, Winchester police responded to Alden Ln. for a report of a larceny. Officers met with the reporting party, the latter of whom stated that he left his Trek bicycle at the between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The party related that the bike was locked with a Kryptonite lock.

When the reporting party returned to his bike, he noticed that his front and rear LED accessory lights had been stolen from the bike. The party said that the lights were attached with Velcro. He also observed that it appeared that his lock was tampered with.

Police observed the lock, as well, but were unable to determine if it had been tampered with. The reporting party filed a police report.

While the above party was missing lights, another party found his entire bike had been stolen that same day. A party reported at 9:39 p.m. on Aug. 29 that his Trek bicycle had been stolen from Maple St.

Police spoke with the reporting party, as well as the boy’s father, who told police that the bike had been parked outside of the and unlocked. When the party returned to his bike after dining 30 minutes later, he found it stolen.

The boy’s father reported that the bike was worth approximately $200. The reporting party also said that he did not see anyone near the bike prior to the theft.
