Police Log: Car Fire and Parked Vehicle Blocks Traffic

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Dec. 8, 2:21 p.m. – While visiting relatives at Wildwood cemetery a Florida man told police that his car began to stall. He tried to restart it, but after several failed attempts smoke started to come from under his hood and his car caught on fire. The Fire Department extinguished the car fire.

Friday, Dec. 8, 5:53 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to McKay Avenue for a disabled vehicle. According to police, an Attleboro man’s car broke down in the middle of the road. The man locked the car and left the vehicle in the road. After failing to contact the man, police towed the car.

9:03 a.m. – An Arlington Street resident told police that her husband’s car was entered into Thursday night. Nothing was taken from the car.

9:13 a.m. – A Fernway resident had their Lexus entered. Stolen was an Ipod.

3:44 p.m. – A New Hampshire man stopped at the stop sign on the corner of Johnson Road and Ridge Street. A witness told police that the truck then moved quickly through the intersection and crashed into a car, driven by a Lexington woman.

The woman told police she could not tell if the truck stopped at the intersection or not. The New Hampshire man said he did not see the car before crossing into the intersection. The man had a laceration on his head and the woman complained of knee and hip pain.

Both were taken to the hospital.
