Police Log: Cars Broken Into and Mysterious Green Chip Found

This is an excerpt from the Winchester Police Log from Friday, March 18 to Monday, March 21.

Thursday, March 17, 2:40 p.m.  – A Washington Street resident was driving when another motorist waved him down. The other driver informed the Winchester resident that his rear license plate was missing.

The man told police that he had just returned from Florida and is not sure if it had fallen off or was stolen.

Friday, March 18, 1:16 p.m. – A Winchester resident called police to Washington Street because their vehicle’s window was broken. The officer couldn’t find anything that could have broken the window. Nothing appeared to be taken from the vehicle.

5:23 p.m. – An Arlington Street resident showed up at the Winchester Police Station to report suspicious activity. The woman said that when she arrived home on Thursday, there was a green poke chip with a post-it attached to the back that said “Direct Signature,” along with her last name.

When the woman returned home, there was another post-it on her front door. The note was from FedEx and informed her that this was their second delivery attempt.

Sunday, March 20, 7:14 p.m. – The Winchester Police were called to the Fells to take a report of a motor vehicle break in. The woman told police that she had parked her car in the lot, locked her car and took her dogs for a walk in the Fells.

When she returned to the vehicle, her passenger window was smashed and her purse was stolen. Her credit cards along with $40 in cash were stolen.
