Police Log: Dunkin Donuts and Europa Coiffure are Vandalized

This is an excerpt of the Winchester Police Log from Wednesday, September 8 through Friday, September 10.

Wednesday, Sep. 8, 6:42 a.m. – Police responded to Dunkin Donuts where the owner informed the officer of some property damage that happened this past Sunday night. The officer noticed a break in the glass where an apparent BB gun shot went through. She wanted to document the incident for security purposes.

7:57 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to Waterfield Road for a reported breaking and entering. The incident occurred at Europa Coiffure Hair Salon. The police noticed the rear door glass was broken, and they believed that a small or thin person would have been able to fit through the opening.

The officer believed the perpetrator entered the building, pried open the register and stole approximately $1,675. He then apparently left through the basement door, which the perpetrator left opened. The police were able to remove some fingerprints from the scene.

10:05 a.m. – Police were called to Highland Avenue to take a report of an internet scam. The man told the police that someone had hacked into his email account and sent out an email to all his contacts saying that he was in the United Kingdom and needed money. The man told police that anyone who knows him would know this email is not accurate.

12:05 p.m. –  Police took a report of check fraud at Johnson Road. The woman told the officer that a fraudulent checking account was opened under her husband's name and that a check had been deposited for $22.45. It was made out to someone called "GG". She is working with the bank to try and reclaim the funds.

5:52 p.m. – The homeowners on Russell Road called police because her husband had found a bloodied hyperdermic needle on their front lawn. The woman's husband wrapped it in a paper towel and placed it in the garage. This is the second time the family has found a needle on their property. The police took the needle and filed it.

Thursday, Sep. 1, 6:21 p.m. – Police were called to Chester Street to take a report of vandalism. The homeowner stated that she has had an ongoing problem with her downstairs neighbor. She said most of the problems have not been reported.

She said that one of the reported incidents was regarding illegal drug use. She said that since she reported that incident, their relationship has been much more difficult. She said that he often makes inappropriate comments to her and her daughter, and harasses them.

She told the officer that after she reported this incident someone drove by in a car and yelled out, "What are you afraid of." She said she didn't see the person, but it sounded like her neighbor and the car that drive by seemed to be his.

When the daughter was driving her car, the tire went flat. When she tried to fill it up, it went flat again. When she brought the car in the mechanic told her that there were numerous nails in the tires, and that they were most likely placed there intentionally.

The police returned later that night to speak with the man, but he denied any involvement with the incident.
