Police Log: Harassment and Restraining Order Violations

This is an excerpt from the Winchester Police Log from Friday, Feb. 25 to Friday, March 4.

Thursday, Feb. 24, 12:08 p.m. – Winchester Police responded to Forest Street where there was a report of a car driving erratically. The 2001 Chevy ended up on top of a snow bank and blocking a driveway. The driver had suffered a seizure and needed to be taken to the hospital.

Monday, Feb. 28, 4:48 p.m. – A Winchester resident informed police that her ex-husband and his current girlfriend may be trying to harass her. The woman said that just before leaving her previous job, human resources contacted her because they received a phone call saying that the woman has a serious cocaine addiction.

After leaving that job, the human resource officer at her new job contacted her and showed her checks that belonged to her husband, but were signed by her, in her husband’s name. These checks were faxed over, and the woman told police that her ex-husband and her agreed that she will continue to pay the bills with his checks.

And most recently, when the woman Googled herself, she was on a website, which said that she marries for money. The woman contacted the Arizona-based site and the Arizona Attorney General to have it removed. The woman said she will speak with her attorney regarding these problems.

Wednesday, March 2, 3:40 p.m. – The Winchester Police responded to East Street where a resident informed him that the rear window of his car was shattered. The man didn’t know how it happened, and he contacted his insurance company.

6:29 p.m. –  A woman called Winchester Police to report that her husband, Edwin Steel, had contacted her mother, which is a violation of the restraining order she has against him. Steel wanted the woman’s mother to ask if she can help him get his life back on track.

Later that evening, a Winchester officer spotted Steel sitting in his car. The officer walked up to Steel and arrested him for violating his restraining order.
