Police Log: Man Arrested and Winchester Bank Damaged

This is an excerpt from the Winchester Police Log from Thursday, April 21 to Monday, April 25.

Thursday, April 21, 8:50 a.m. – An unknown person used their ATM card to enter the Winchester Savings Bank on Wednesday night. The person damaged the door handle of the door that exits the building. Winchester Police don’t believe anyone tried to break into the bank, but will check the video surveillance to be sure.

2:45 p.m. – A Forest Street resident parked his Razor Scooter in front of the Library. When he returned, the scooter was stolen.

3:42 p.m. – Winchester Police were called to White Street for a domestic disturbance. The daughter of the woman called police because of the argument she heard over the phone. The wife’s husband had been drinking, and the two have gotten into a fight. Police informed the man to stop drinking for the day or he would be arrested. The man complied.

5:27 p.m. – A Malden resident was driving along Church Street with an expired registration, a tail light out and missing the side view mirror. Winchester Police pulled the car over.

The driver – Farhan Khursheed – was arrested for having an active warrant. Khursheed was supposed to appear in Concord District Court to answer to criminal motor vehicle charges.

8:52 p.m. – A Johnson Road resident received threatening phone calls on Thursday night. The man said that a man on the other line called and said, “I want to kill you.”

The resident told police that he’s not concerned and it was probably a prank, but he wanted to have it recorded.

10:19 p.m. – A Florence Street resident had their bicycle stolen.

Saturday, April 23, 10:38 a.m. – A George Road resident, who was moving out of his apartment, had some of his furniture stolen. The man left some ideas – two chairs and a table – in the basement, unlocked. When he went down to retrieve those items the following day they were missing.

Sunday, April 24, 8:16 a.m. – A Warren Street resident had her car broken into on Saturday night. The woman locked the doors, but the perpetrator broke the passenger side window and stole the woman’s purse.

The woman’s purse was eventually found and all items were accounted for, except $60 in cash.

8:18 a.m. – A Swan Road resident had the passenger side window of her car smashed. The perpetrator took the woman’s Chanel purse, which was valued at $1,500. Also taken was gift cards that totaled $500 and $240 worth of cash.
