Police Log: Reports of Stolen Mail and a House Break-in

This is an excerpt of the Winchester Police Log from Wednesday, September 15 through Friday, September 17.

Wednesday, September 15, 8:52 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to Hillcrest Parkway where the resident informed the officer that her mail had been stolen. She had been waiting for a package from Nordstrom's. When the woman had returned home she saw the box in the mailbox, but when she turned it over, she noticed that it had been sliced open and the shirt that was inside had been taken.

The woman called Nordstrom's and reordered the shirt.

11:31 a.m. – The Winchester High School volleyball bus was struck by a car as the car tried to pass the bus. The bus was making a left turn lane with it's lights on from the right lane, and the car tried to pass the bus from the left lane. The car struck the bus. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were able to drive away.

3:37 p.m. – A woman came into the police station and told the police she had found a stack of pornographic magazines. They were found behind McCall Middle School and the skate park. The covers were torn off and the photos available for everyone to see. The woman was concerned that the pictures may be of underage girls. The officer decided that they weren't and the magazines were placed in an evidence locker.

 5:36 p.m. – Winchester Police were called to Chardon Road where a family had just returned home from vacation. They told the officer that someone had broken into their home when they were away. When the family returned they noticed the lights were on and the cellar door was open. Numerous drawers were open in the kitchen and living room.

The officer believes the perpetrator smashed the glass door on the porch to enter the house. The family doesn't believe anything was stolen and the officers were unable to find any prints.

Thursday, September 16, 9:25 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to Windsong Lane where the homeowner informed the officer that accounts had been made at Neiman Marcus, J. Crew, Nordstrom, Home Depot, Best Buy, Walmart and the First Premier Bank had all been open without his knowledge. In all, those accounts were charged approximately $5,000.

10:23 a.m. – Winchester Police went to McCall Middle School where there was damage to one of the windows. It appears that someone shot a BB gun through the window, creating a hole.
