Police Log: Runaway Car and Christmas Gifts Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Dec. 21, 8:16 p.m. – Winchester Police responded to Irving Street for a domestic dispute.

Thursday, Dec. 22, 11:01 a.m. – A Valleywood Circle resident pulled up to her mailbox and tried to retrieve her mail without leaving her car. The woman did not pull close enough to the mailbox and needed to get.

She told police that she forgot to put the car in park and it began to roll down the hill. The car rolled down Valleywood Circle, across Johnson Road, before striking a birch tree on Cox Road.

No one was injured.

3:50 p.m. – Winchester Police were called to U.S. Petroleum along Main Street where several windows were broken. The owners asked the police for increased patrols in the area.

Friday, Dec. 23, 1:15 p.m. – A Washington Street couple had two packages stolen from their front porch. The couple told police that UPS and FedEx delivered packages Friday morning and left them at their front door, but those packages are now missing.

The packages contained Christmas gifts – a bathrobe, some books and a variety of other items totaling about $300.

Sunday, Dec. 25, 11:33 a.m. – A Harvard Street man had ordered the “Bruins Full 60 to History” coffee table style book. According to FedEx, it was delivered, but the man told police he never received it.

According to police, the package was most likely stolen off his front porch. The book was valued at $80.
