Police Log: Truck gets Stuck under a Bridge and Police Make Arrest

This is an excerpt of the Winchester Police Log from Wednesday, August 4 through Friday, August 6.

August 4, 6:43 a.m. – Winchers Police arrived at Samoset Road where the homeowner informed police that he had his Yamaha scooter/motorcycle stolen from his garage. The garage door was left open the previous night.

August 5, 7:46 a.m. – Police reported to the railroad bridge at Cross Street where a truck had hit the underside of the bridge and got stuck. The box truck had gotten wedged underneath the bridge.

The driver of the truck was on the opposite side, lying facedown in the grass complaining of back pain. Before he was taken to Winchester Hospital, he told police that he had not seen the signs for a low bridge because he was just following the directions from his GPS.

The MBTA will send out engineers to check the bridge and make sure it's still OK.

August 5, 7:27 p.m. – While driving along Main Street police saw a man and a woman behind the Jiffy Lube. Both places were closed. They were sitting in the parking lot carrying duffle bags.

The officers went over to them to ask them a few questions because earlier in the evening police received a call of a disturbance between a man and a woman. The caller informed police that they were arguing. Police believed these were the same two people.

The officers spoke to both people and ran their information through the computer. The officer found out that the woman, Felycia Bearden, has an active warrant. Winchester Police arrested Bearden for the warrant, which was issued to her for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

The man informed police that they were both heroine addicts, but when asked if they had any drugs on them he informed police they did not. But he did say they injected the drugs the day before. The police dog – Axel – was called out of the car to sniff for drugs. He found a used syringe and a bag that was believed to have held the drugs. There was not enough drugs to arrest the man, so he was let go.
