Police Log: Unlicensed Driver Hits Pedestrian and Winchester Man Arrested

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Jan. 13, 1:08 p.m. – While backing out of a Cabot Street driveway, a North Reading man hit a parked car. The man then left the scene. Police contacted the man who said he panicked after he struck the car.

Winchester Police cited him for failing to use care and caution when backing up.

Saturday, Jan. 14, 11:55 a.m. – Winchester Police arrested George Road resident, Al Wilson, for violating a restraining order.

Sunday, Jan. 15, 8:14 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to Peterson Party Center for an attempted auto theft. According to police, someone broke into one of the company’s pickup trucks, damaged the steering column and ignition.

3:40 p.m. – A Jamaica Plain man parked his vehicle along Hancock Street. Sometime Saturday night another vehicle struck his car, damaging the passenger side.

Monday, Jan. 16, 4:11 a.m. – While crossing Main Street, a Burlington man was struck by a car, driven by a Waltham woman.

The woman was delivering newspapers for the Montvale News when she told police the man crossed in front of her vehicle. The man, who also works for Montvale News, could not remember what happened.

He injured his leg in the accident.

According to police, the woman did not have a valid driver’s license and was given a citation for operating a vehicle without a license.

There was no crosswalk in the area. Winchester Police will be following up with the man on Tuesday.
