Police Log: Unwanted Visitor and Illegal Mowing

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Sept. 17, 9:35 p.m. – Winchester Police observed four men pushing lawnmowers onto two pickup trucks parked at Skillings Field. When Winchester officers approached the men, two of them ran off in the other direction.

When asked what they were doing, a Wakefield man said that the DPW had asked them to move the lawnmowers from Skillings to Manchester to cut the grass for a Sunday baseball game.

The DPW told police that they did not have anyone cutting the grass. Also, Manchester Field is closed for renovations.

2:41 p.m. – A Harvard Street resident told police that a Winchester boy has told her son that he has broken into Muraco School numerous times.

5:13 p.m. - A Washington Street resident was a victim of credit card fraud. Someone tried to charge $250 to a Nordstrom’s account.

Monday, Sept. 19, 11:33 a.m. – A construction worker at the Gables called police for a well-being check on his friend and co-worker. The man told police that his friend had fallen on hard times and he was concerned about him. Police were able to locate the man on Horn Pond Mountain. He was uninjured.

Tuesday, Sept. 20, 8:21 a.m. – A Wildwood Street resident had his vehicle broken into. The perpetrator broke his passenger window and stole his IPod.

12:31 p.m. – A Bedford resident who was working on a construction site along Cambridge Street told police that over the past few days a number of workers have had money or tools stolen from their vehicles.

9:33 p.m. – While working in his basement, a Church Street man heard someone walking around upstairs. He saw an unknown white male – 5-8, slim build, shaved head, goatee – standing in his dining room.

The man told the resident that he was going to pave the driveway. The homeowner asked the man to leave and he followed him out of the home before he called the police.
