Police Log: Wandering Woman Arrested and Mailbox Stolen

This is an excerpt from the Winchester Police Log from Thursday, March 24 to Monday, March 28.

Thursday, March 24, 2:21 p.m. – The Winchester Police responded to Swanton Street where there was a report of a domestic assault between a husband and wife. Both blamed the other for the attack. The wife said she will continue to stay in the apartment because she doesn’t feel as though there would be further problems.

Friday, March 25, 10:19 a.m. – A Russell Road resident informed police that his license plate was stolen from his car.

2:14 p.m. – A Johnson Road resident informed police that his motor vehicle was broken into and that his mailbox was stolen.

3:01 p.m. – A maintenance worker at the Palmer Street apartments informed police of a crack in one of the windows. According to the officer, the crack was made by a BB gun.

Saturday, March 26, 8:21 a.m. – Winchester Police were called to Dartmouth Street where the officer shot and killed a sick raccoon.

Sunday, March 27, 6:18 a.m. – The Winchester Police were called to Staffier Road for an altercation between a father and son. Jared Staffier, who was intoxicated at the time, attacked his father. Staffier, pulled his hair, bit him and punched him. He also spit on his aunt. Staffier was arrested and charged with assault and battery on his father and his aunt.

Monday, March 28, 3:43 a.m. – Winchester Police were on patrol early Monday morning when she saw two females standing on the corner of Mount Vernon Street and Skillings Road.

Considering the temperature was 30 degrees and the two women didn’t appear to have the proper clothing on and were shivering from the cold, the officer pulled over to see where they needed help.

They informed the officer that they were looking for a 24-hour CVS. They said that they were at Winchester Hospital, but the hospital refused to give them a taxi voucher for them to go home to North Reading.

The officer took them to the police station where they could try to arrange for a ride. The officer ran the license information of one of the females – Jennifer Provost. It turned out that she had an outstanding warrant for shoplifting and possession of a Class E substance. She was then placed under arrest.
