Police Log: Winchester Resident Arrested in Boston and House Broken Into

This is an excerpt from the Winchester Police Log from Monday, Jan. 10 to Friday, Jan. 14.

Tuesday, Jan. 11, 9:12 a.m. - Winchester Police were called to Main Street because a car had hit a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle stated that he saw the woman standing to the side of the road and he believed she was on the crosswalk. So, his car, which had been stopped, began to roll forward. He struck the woman in her hip and she fell to the ground.

The woman was not injured and refused medical attention.

10:49 a.m. – When a Norfolk Road resident returned home on Tuesday morning after completing some chores, she noticed that her rear sliding door was open. She immediately called police. After inspecting the house, the officers found no one inside. However, the perpetrator stole the family’s jewelry box, Nintendo Wii and some games, and a 19-inch, flatscreen television.

Wednesday, Jan. 12, 4:51 p.m. – While driving along Rangeley Ridge, a DPW dump truck hit a patch of ice and skidded backwards and off the road. The truck hit a minivan that was parked legally on the side of the road and did some minor damage. A large plow arrived at the scene and pulled the dump truck off the minivan.

Friday, Jan. 14, 2:23 a.m. – Early Friday morning, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the area of Coleman and Quincy Streets for three individuals attempting to steal a city owned stop sign. The caller who did not provide a name stated that the three individuals could be seen removing the sign and provided a description of the suspects.

En route, officers were advised that the suspects had successfully removed the sign and were walking now walking towards Hamilton St. with the stop sign. Officers located the three suspects at the intersection of Bowdoin and Draper Streets and stopped them to further investigate. One of the suspects was observed carrying the stop sign, while the other was two were in possession of adjustable wrenches. Officers had a conversation with the suspects and explained that they had created a hazardous situation by removing the sign. One of the suspects simply laughed after being advised of the possible consequences of their action.

The suspects, Ramsay M. Kamal, 21 of Winchester, James N. Jubinville, 22 of Lowell and Coleman M. Concannon, 20 of Dorchester were all arrested and charged with Larceny Over $250 and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
