Police Log: Winchester Resident Walks in on Burglar

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Oct. 18, 5:29 p.m. – Winchester Police found a Trek sports green woman’s mountain bike in the dumpster along Main Street.

12:34 p.m. – A Fletcher Street man just arrived home when he saw a white male, 5-7 or 5-8, thin build in his 40s with a black beard, wearing a dark colored shirt or sweatshirt

The had a K-9 unit respond to the area to search for the suspect.

According to the resident, he left his home at 10:30 a.m. and returned at 12:15 p.m. When he returned home, he remotely opened his garage door and pulled in to park his car.

The Winchester man told police that when he looked out the window of his garage, towards his backyard, he saw the suspect trying to pry open a window.

Winchester Police found a man that matched the description at the Wedgmere Train Station. The victim was brought to the station, but was unable to positively identify that man as the suspect, and the officers let the suspect go.

According to the police, the suspect attempted to break into the home by using some type of blade to pry open the window. Police said that the man was unable to gain entry into the home.
