Police Logs for Aug. 30 to Sept. 2: Two Fires and Donuts in Calvary Cemetery

The following information was supplied by the Winchester Police Department. Charges listed do not indicate convictions.

7:31 p.m., August 30: Officers responded to a report of a fire near the Winchester Golf Course near Arlington Street and High Street. Winchester and Arlington Fire Departments put out the fire, which covered about one and a half acres. Cause of the fire is unknown.

 

11:31 a.m., August 31:  Officers responded to a brush fire near the Parkview Condominiums. There were no visible flames, but burn marks on the grass and on a wooden fence. Rain put the fire out. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

7:47 p.m., August 31: Officers saw a grey Honda Civic traveling 48 mph in a 30 mph zone near Highland Avenue. Officers issued the driver a citation for driving with a learner’s permit with no licensed driver in the car. The driver was summonsed to Woburn District Court to face the charge of driving without being duly licensed.

11:32 p.m., September 1: A man and a woman got into a heated argument that turned violent. The victim claimed that the man shoved her, so she threw an iced coffee at him. The man then grabbed the victim by the back of the neck and threw her head into the refrigerator. Nicholas Castoldi, 28, of 361 Washington Street, Winchester was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

 

8:40 a.m., September 2: Officers responded to a report of vandalism at Calvary Cemetery. Someone did donuts in a grassy area the night before.
