Police Logs for Tuesday, May 15

7:17 a.m.: While the Winchester High School senior class conducted their annual bike ride through the town; one of the students drove a Go Kart. Officers pulled the student over and advised the student that this vehicle could not be operated on a public way because the Go Kart had no registration, no seat belt, no taillight or mirrors. The DPW towed the Go Kart to the station’s garage where it was secured.

7:31 a.m.: Vandalism reported at the intersection of Florence Street and Swanton Street. A GMC Silverado Pickup Truck had been keyed over night. Four deep scratches ran along the length of the driver’s side door. The driver stated that they had no issues with anyone. No other vehicles in the area had been damaged.

5:30 p.m.: Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound on Main Street. A Honda was parked on Main Street in the area of Elliot Park. The Honda struck the Jeep on the rear right side while pulling out of the parking spot.

5:39 p.m.: A two-car accident was reported at the intersection of River Street and Cross Street. When officers arrived, a 2008 Honda Civic was in the middle of Cross Street facing east. The vehicle had front and left side damage. A 2001 Toyota Corolla was resting the rear bumper on a telephone pole. The driver’s side door was smashed in, preventing the driver from exiting. The driver of the Toyota claimed that they thought they had enough time to make a turn. The smell of alcohol was coming from the driver, who said they had had a few beers. Inside the car was a 30 rack and a grocery bag with five empty beers in it. When the driver exited the vehicle, they appeared to be unsteady on their feet. A Robert 73-year-old Woburn man was arrested for OUI-alcohol. At the station, he blew a 0.13 percent on a Breathalyzer and was released on bail at 8:20 p.m.

9:30 p.m.: A Toyota was traveling from the left hand lane of Mount Vernon Street through the intersection to get into the northbound lane of Washington Street. Another Toyota was traveling from the right hand lane of Mount Vernon Street the intersection when the two vehicles collided.
