Police Logs from April 30 to May 2

The following information is supplied from the Winchester PD. These do not indicate conviction.

Some of these reports are backdated with follow ups.

Monday, April 30

6:51 a.m.: Vandalism reported at construction site on Waterfield Road. sometime between 6 p.m. on April 29 and 7 a.m. on April 30. The office trailer was in the parking lot of Ginn Field.  Half of a concrete cinder block and an empty five-gallon bucket of tar were on the floor of the trailer, as well as broken glass from the window on the door. This was the means of entrance from the party. No items were taken. A red backpack with a towel and a wine opener were left at the scene.

8:49 a.m.: Vandalism reported at 535 Main St. The word “Summa” was written on the front window in green paint. Reports that no one had seen the paint on Saturday but noticed it on Sunday.

10:30 a.m.: Stolen pick up at 299 Cambridge St. A red Ford F-350 Supercab Pickup Truck was stolen from the parking lot of The Gables that morning. Security tapes shows the truck parked on Monday, April 23 at 6:35 a.m. and then being moved on Tuesday, April 24 at 5:45 a.m. No employee was given the keys at the time. May 1: Security tape from the rear of the parking lot showed a person enters The Gables from Cambridge St. at 4:58 a.m. At 5:41, the truck was seen out of its place. Investigation is on going.

2:13 p.m.: Someone stole a boat from 31 Holton St. at some over the weekend; someone grabbed his 12-foot aluminum boat. The boat is a light green, which was left outside under a trailer on the north side of his property. Over the passed three weeks, the owner noticed that construction tools had gone missing because they were out in the open. They were old and not a big deal. The boat could be seen from the access road There was also 30 pieces of steel rebar that was taken from the same area. 50 steel anchor bolts were taken as well. Surveillance cameras from a near by business may have picked up two possible suspect vehicles. Investigation is on going.

Tuesday, May 1 

8:32 a.m.: Officer pulled over a gray Honda Odyssey on Prince Ave. and Washington St. for expired registration Upon checking the information, the registration had Duranatic rowboat expired and was nonrenewable. The driver was cited for operation of an unregistered vehicle. The vehicle would be towed.

11:18 a.m.: Possible vandalism to a vehicle reported at 8 Cleveland Rd. Vehicle was wet on the inside and the key would not go into the ignition. The wheel was not in the position it was left in. Car was left unlocked and left in the driveway all weekend. 

7:39 p.m.: Adam Smilgis, 31, of Meredith, N.H. was arrested on Main St. His 2006 Mazda was pulled over when officers recognized his suspended license number from a recent investigation. When pulled over, Smiglis said he did not have a license, proof of vehicle registration or insurance. He was informed that he was under arrest and was asked if he had any weapons or sharp objects on him. Smiglis told the police that he had a needle in his pocket. Police found no needles on him. The passenger of the car was not stable on their feet and was transported home. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a hypodermic needle and two bottle caps with residue on them. They were collected and will be tested for heroin. Smiglis was held on $200 dollar bail plus a $40 fine, which he could not pay and was scheduled to be transported to Woburn District Court in the morning. He was charged with operating after license suspension subsequent offense and possession of a Class A substance. 

Wednesday, May 2

7:45 p.m.: Report of identity theft in which two AT&T accounts were opened and an iPhone 4 was also purchased at the South Shore Plaza on January 24, 2012. These accounts were opened through the existing account of the afflicted party. The afflicted party had the bill squared away with AT&T.
