Police Logs: Red-Faced Monkey Statue Causes Complaint

The following information is supplied by the Winchester Police Department. These do not indicate a conviction.

Friday, June 8

10:19 a.m.: The driver of a Toyota struck a parked landscape trailer as she was traveling east on Pond Street. She said she was distracted.

11:31 p.m.: A Ford Explorer rear-ended a Nissan Murano that was stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Main Street. The driver of the Explorer said she was distracted, but no injuries were reported at the scene.

Saturday, June 9

3:05 a.m.: A Honda Civic backed into a parked Hyundai Sonata when leaving his driveway on Irving Street. The driver of the Civic said he accelerated quickly causing him to hit the unoccupied car on Florence Street.

2:26 p.m.: A resident on Shefield West complained about a red-faced ceramic monkey statue in the common area across from his home. He first noticed the object the night before, but thought it was a dog. The monkey appears to be homemade and has been moved to the station.

10:01 p.m.: A dog trying to attack another dog in bit a resident. The owner said both dogs were leashed, and he blocked the attack with his knee. He sustained a three-inch scratch that did not puncture the skin. Both stories matched when the other owner called the police station later explaining her side. The owner that was bit did not wish to pursue this matter any further.

Sunday, June 10

8:07 a.m.: A Chevy Cavalier struck a parked Toyota Highlander when backing out of her driveway on Foxcroft Road.
