Police Respond to Two Hit-and-Run Collisions in Winchester
At 7 p.m. Aug. 7, Winchester police responded to Mount Vernon Street for a report of two hit-and-run collisions, according to a police report. A white 2011 Mercedes parked on Mount Vernon Street was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle while the Mercedes' owner was still inside. A green 1999 Saab parked in front of the Mercedes was also reportedly struck by the same unknown vehicle. A witness from Stoneham claimed to have seen the suspect vehicle involved in the crashes and described it as a gold Honda CR-V hatchback, the report adds. The Mercedes had to be towed from the scene, according to the report. No one was injured during the crashes, the report adds.

Aug. 6
5:20 p.m.: Police received a report from a Swanton Street woman about possible identity theft, according to a police report. The woman claimed that the identity theft situation has been an ongoing issue, according to the report. About a month ago, the woman noticed that both a debit and credit card account were opened in her name that she had not authorized, according to the report. That same day, she also received a letter stating that she had opened and closed an E-Trade stock account in the same week, according to the report. No money or transactions had been made using her checking or credit card accounts, the report adds. 

Aug. 7

1:23 p.m.: Police received a call from a Lockeland Road resident about credit card fraud, according to a police report. The caller claimed that their Citibank Visa card had been compromised, according to the report. An unknown individual, who had the caller's social security number, attempted to add an account to the card but was unsuccessful because they could not provide the caller's mother's maiden name, according to the report. The caller told police that they immediately closed their account and took steps to try and make sure their identity was not compromised in the future, according to the report.

3:52 p.m.: Police responded to Church Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident, according to a police report. No tows or transports reported.

Aug. 8

8:03 a.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation in the area of Aristotle Drive and Johnson Road, according to a police report. Police stopped a white Chevy Impala on Johnson Road near Aristotle Drive because the driver reportedly had an expired registration. A 23-year-old Woburn man was informed that he would be cited for having an expired registration, and his vehicle was towed from the scene, according to the report.

8:45 a.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation in the area of Norfolk and Woodside Streets, according to a police report. Police stopped a blue Chevy Malibu for having an expired registration, according to the report. A 45-year-old Tewksbury woman was told that she would receive a citation for having an expired registration, and her vehicle was towed from the scene, the report adds.
