This weekend the State Police will be setting up a sobriety checkpoint in Middlesex County.

The exact location of the checkpoint has not been released, but it will be on a public roadway from Saturday, June 29 into Sunday, June 30, according to an announcement by Col. Timothy P. Alben, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police.

“The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways,” Alben said in the announcement.
