Three Everett Residents Arraigned on Gun, Drug Charges

The arrests came after Winchester Police obtained a search warrant for an Everett residence, as officers searched the premises for a laptop computer stolen from a Winchester business.

A pair of Everett men and an Everett woman have been arraigned on several drug and gun charges, including possession of a gun that was reported stolen from a Chelsea District Court evidence locker in November 2011, according to a press statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's office.

Liban Ali, 21, Jeffrey Sanon, 30, and Malensky Oscar, 21, all of Everett, were arraigned in Malden District Court on charges of possession of a high-capacity firearm (three counts each), possession of a high-capacity magazine (three counts each), unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, trafficking in cocaine over 36 grams, conspiracy to violate the drug law and receiving stolen property.

Following a dangerousness hearing, Malden District Court Judge Lee Johnson had Ali and Sanon held without bail and ordered Oscar held on $25,000 cash bail, according to the statement. Oscar's bail was later reduced to $2,500 with the condition of house arrest should she post bail, the statement adds.

The trio are expected to return to court for a pre-trial hearing on June 5.

"We allege that these defendants were found to be in possession of several high-capacity firearms and magazines, as well as a gun reported to have been stolen from the Chelsea District Court," Ryan said in the statement. "The firepower and drugs that were discovered at that home created a potentially lethal combination and a real danger to nearby residents. I applaud the teamwork and joint efforts of the Winchester and Everett police departments, whose search for a stolen computer led to an unanticipated and significant seizure of weapons that now no longer pose a threat to the community."

In August 2012, Winchester Police launched an investigation into a breaking and entering report and theft of a laptop computer from a local restaurant, according to Lt. Peter MacDonnell. He declined to provide the name of the restaurant.

MacDonell explained that an antitheft device installed on the laptop activated, indicating where the computer was being used. Winchester Police were then able to obtain a search warrant for an Everett home, and with assistance from Everett police conducted the search, he added.

All three defendants were home at the time of the search, according to the statement. During the search, officers recovered more than 36 grams of cocaine and packagin materials, several high-capacity firearms—including a .40-caliber Glock pistol reported stolen from the Chelsea court—several high-capacity magazines, ammunition, the stolen laptop computer and a shotgun, according to the statement.

Investigators still needed to complete a forensics examination of the computer before it can be returned to the restaurant, according to MacDonnell.
