Winchester Police Log: Officers Respond to Several Accidents

Jan. 27

1:44 a.m.: Police responded to Swanton Street for a report of a single-vehicle crash. The driver of a 2002 Blue Subaru Forester allegedly lost control of the vehicle at a small bend in the road, went off the roadway and struck a utility pole and guardrail, according to police. The driver was not injured during the incident. Helio Cabral, 38, of 317 Cross St., Winchester, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, second offense, and a marked lanes violation. Cabral posted bail and was expected to appear in Woburn District Court Jan. 28, according to police.

Jan. 28

11:45 a.m.: Police called to the intersection of Sussex Road and Grove Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident. No injuries were reported.

8:15 p.m.: Police responded to Mount Vernon Street for a report of a single-vehicle crash. A police officer driving a town-owned 2013 Ford Explorer pulled forward through a parking space in the rear lot on Mount Vernon Street, struck a utility pole due to obstructed vision, according to police. There was damage to the driver's side mirror and panel, according to police. An estimate provided with the police report shows that the cost of repairs totals nearly $3,600, according to police. No injuries were reported.

Jan. 29

2 p.m.: Police called to the intersection of Main Street and Skillings Road on a report of two-vehicle accident. No one was injured during the incident.
