Winchester Police Respond to Multiple Home Breaks

At 1:29 p.m. March 14, Winchester Police responded to Pine Street for a report of a breaking and entering. An alarm was activated, according to police. Police noticed painted splinters of wood lying on a door mat outside. An interior door appeared to be damaged near the door knob, according to police. Appears a pry bar was used on the door and frame to gain entry to the home, according to police. Nothing appeared to be stolen, and the suspect(s) could not be located, according to police.

At 1:50 p.m. March 14, police were called to Wildwood Street for a report of a breaking and entering. Nothing reported stolen, but house was rummaged through, according to police. Forced entry, rear entry door severly damaged, according to police.

9:15 a.m.: Police called to Main Street area for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports. 

10:10 a.m.: Police responded to Forest Street on a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

10:50 a.m.: Police called to Grant Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no transports. One vehicle was towed from the scene, according to police.

3:48 p.m.: A woman visited the police station to report an attempted fraud. The woman claimed someone ordered several magazine subscriptions in her husband's name, according to police. A report was taken.

4:28 p.m.: Police called to the intersection of Wildwood and Cambridge Streets for a report of a three-vehicle accident. Two vehicles were towed, and no transports, according to police. 

11:13 p.m.: A Winchester hockey fan was allegedly assaulted by a baseball-bat wielding student from Burlington on March 11.

March 12

9:32 p.m.: A person visited the police station to report credit card fraud. A report was taken.

March 13

8:15 a.m.: Police responded to the intersection of Florence and Harvard Streets for a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident. The victim's vehicle was parked on Florence Street and sometime overnight was struck, causing damage to the passenger's side door and mirror, according to police. A report was taken.

3 p.m.: Police called to the intersection of Washington and Forest Streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

March 14

12:32 p.m.: Police responded to Main Street for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

2:52 p.m.: Police called to Main Street on a report of a two-vehicle accident with one tow and no transports.

3:50 p.m.: Police responded to Cross Street for a report of a Ryder truck crash into a MBTA bridge in Winchester.

March 16

2:51 p.m.: Police called to Hillcrest Parkway for a report of a stolen bicycle (valued at $900). The bike that was reported stolen was a specialized Sequoia racing bike, according to police. The victim had the bike for seven years, according to police. 

March 17

March 18

10:26 a.m.: Police responded to Johnson Road on a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident. There was damage to a yellow "children" DPW sign, shrub, outdoor light fixtures and a mailbox at the woman's property, according to police. A report was taken.

11:25 a.m.: Police called to McKay Avenue for a report of fraud. A DPW employee working at the Transfer Station reported seeing a transfer station sticker taped to a windown that may be a fake, according to police. A woman allegedly bought a transfer station sticker using cash ($160) from a man outside the Winchester Post Office near Black Horse Tavern, according to police. The man that allegedly sold the sticker was described as a 45-55 year-old-man, white man, about six feet tall, not clean shaven but did not have a beard wearing a yellow construction jacket, according to police.

2:06 p.m.: Police responded to Shield System Car Wash on Main Street for a report of harassing phone calls. A report was taken.

3:01 p.m.: Police called to Hancock Street for a report of credit card fraud. The victim reportedly had an unauthorized Capital One Best Buy credit card opened in her name and $5,000 in purchases made in Georgia, according to police. A report was taken.

5:01 p.m.: Police stopped a vehicle on Church Street for a motor vehicle violation. Police smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, but the driver denied having any marijuana, according to police. Police allegedly found a large water bong with water, ice and a small amount of marijuana in it on the floor of the passenger's side in the back seat. The driver reportedly challenged the legality of the stop and suggested police needed a warrant. An 18-year-old Winchester man was issued a civil motor vehicle citation for defective equipment, tinted tail lights and illegal window tint, as well as a civil marijuana town-by violation for possession of less than one ounce. The water bong and small amount of marijuana were collected as evidence, according to police.

7 p.m.: Police called to Cross Street for a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. The victim's 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup truck had two tire slashed overnight, according to police. The truck was towed and both tires replaced, according to police. A report was taken.

11:35 p.m.: Police responded to Cambrige Street on a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

March 19

3:27 p.m.: Police called to Ridge Street for a single-car acciden with no tows or transports. The driver of a Lincoln Town Car lost control of the vehicle due to snowy road conditions and hit a pole, according to police. The pole was not damaged, while the vehicle sustain minor damage, according to police. 

4:29 p.m.: Police responded to Bacon Street for a report of a past breaking and entering. Two New York Company watches, $40 in cash, about $150 worth of liquor and a 5 gallon water jug three-quarters full with change was reported stolen from a room in the house, according to police. A report was taken.

March 20

9:42 a.m.: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Sheridan Court and Main Street. A 30-year-old Bedford man was cited for having an unregisteed vehicle, and the vehicle was towed, according to police. A report was taken.

10:56 a.m.: Police responded to Sylvester Avenue for a report of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident. A report was taken.

3:09 p.m.: Police called to the intersection of Englewood Road and Washington Street for a report a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

8:02 p.m.: Police responded to Swanton Street on a report of credit card fraud. The caller claimed that someone made a fraudulent purchase of multiple Go-Pro cameras totaling $828.90 using his Discover card, according to police. The suspect also changed the mailing address to one in New Jersey without the credit card owner's permission, according to police. A report was taken.

March 21

3:26 p.m.: Police responded to the intersection of Wildwood and Cambridge Streets for a report of a two-vehicle accident with no tows or transports.

March 23

March 24

2:36 p.m.: Police called to Wildwood Cemetery for a report of property damage. The caller reported an old limestone grave marker that was knocked over, possibly by a vehicle, according to police. A report was taken.
