Winchester Resident Steals Dog

A Tremont Street man walked away with a dog from stop & Shop.

A Chestnut Street couple went to on Sunday evening to do some grocery shopping.

They took their dog – a mix pit bull – with them. They tied it to a pole on the outside of the store, but when the couple returned, the dog was missing.

Upon looking at the video surveillance, saw a man with grey sweatpants and a black hoodie take the dog and walk towards Skillings Road with it.

Later that day police received a call from a Tremont Street couple who said that their 29-year-old son had an unknown dog in his room and wanted to know if anyone in town was missing a pet.

When police arrived they asked to speak with their son, but he was “passed out drunk.” When officers spoke to him, the man said the dog followed him home. But when presented with the evidence, the man admitted to taking the dog, but said he didn't remember.
