Winchester Woman Arrested After Allegedly Hitting Pedestrian with Car

A Winchester woman was arrested for drunk driving and hitting a pedestrian.

Joan Tartarini, 77, 1 Holton Street, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating liquor.

According to police, Tartarini was driving along East Street by the early Friday evening when she struck an East Street resident who was walking along the road. The pedestrian was transported to with an arm injury.

According to Tartarini, while she was driving a motorist behind her started to flash their lights, trying to get her to pull over.

Sergeant, Daniel Perenick, asked Tartarini if it was possible she struck a pedestrian while she was driving. According to the police report, Tartarini thought she hit something, but assumed it was a rock.

A witness told police that, while walking to her car in the Tennis Club’s parking lot, she allegedly saw Tartarini hit a pedestrian with her car and then drive off. The woman told police that she then got into her car and followed Tartarini, flashing her lights, trying to get her to stop.

After failing a field sobriety test, Tartarini was arrested.

Tartarini was later released on bail.
