Ward was selected following a two-part process, which included a screening committee—comprised of various town officials—interviewing her and four other candidates and nominating two, according to the statement. Then, the Selectment and Town Manager Richard Howard conducted public interviews during a hearing on April 22, the statement adds.

"From a field of strong candidates, Stacie emerged as a great fit for the town of Winchester," said Selectmen chairman Doug Marmon in the statement. "Her experience as a consultant has exposed her to a broad range of financial issues and processes, while requiring her to become familiar with a town's finances quickly. She will certainly hit the ground running."
