Updated: Override Fails, Marmon Wins Selectmen Seat

Unofficial results have the override failing, 1,759 - 1,575.

Elections results are in, and according to the unofficial results,

Out of a total of 3,972 votes, 2,045 residents voted against the override, while 1,810 voted in favor of it. Approximately 29 percent of the town's registered voters participated in the Town Election. That number is down from the 37 percent number that voted in the

"We had one race and that brought people in," said Town Clerk, Mary Ellen Lannon. "Then we had the override, which helped increase the interest in this election. The ultimate goal was to get the vote out there and get people to execute their democratic right."

In the Board of Selectmen race, defeated and . Marmon received 1,649 votes, defeating O'Connor (996) and Wilkinson (862).

"I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and I hope that I can live up to their expectations" Marmon said. "I want to thank Brian O'Connor for his six years on the board and fr Doug Wilkinson who led a good campaign and stuck himself out there. I'm just glad I have the opportunity to serve on this board and I hope I live up to expectations."
