Winchester Has Two Positions Open

The Winchester Finance Committee and Personnel Board are seeking new members.

Winchester is seeking two positions to fill this year: members for the Finance Committee and Personnel Board.

Finance Committee:

Who: One registered voter who holds no other town office can apply to serve on the committee for a term to expire 2013.

What: The Finance Committee annually reviews the Town Manager’s proposed budget. After review and public hearing, the Committee prepares its recommended budget for town meeting action. The Committee also prepares recommendations on all town meeting articles involving expenditure of town funds.

Appointments to this committee are made jointly by the Town Moderator, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen,and the Chairman of the Finance Committee.

When: A major time commitment is expected of the members from mid-February through May. Two evening meetings per week, as well as sub-committee meetings, occur during that time.

Personnel Board:

Who: The Personnel Board seeks one member to serve for a three-year term ending June, 30 2015.

What: The Personnel Board serves in an advisory capacity to town agencies and the Town Manager. Duties include assistance in the coordination of collective bargaining activities, as well as making recommendations on compensation and personnel policies.

Members are appointed by a committee of three: the Town Moderator, the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen and the Chairman of the School Committee.

When: This is a three-year term that ends June 30, 2015.

Deadline: Interested persons can send a resume and a letter of interest to the address below by Friday, Oct. 5.
