Winchester To Look at Improving Traffic Along North Main Street

Acting Town Manager Mary Ellen Lannon will be speaking with residents to see how the town can improve traffic in the area.

Traffic is a growing concern in Winchester, especially in the North Main Street area of town.

Earlier this summer, Acting Town Manager Mary Ellen Lannon, that lived near the 1021 Main Street property. The building, which was by , is having doctors’ offices put in.

At that meeting, residents in the neighborhood were concerned about the increase in traffic that offices and patients could create.

According to Lannon, the will be repairing the sidewalks and curb cuts along North Main Street.

“The repair project is projected to take the next two summers,” Lannon said.

This summer, the intersection of Lake Street and Main Street will be worked on.

“It was apparent to me in the meeting last month that the town does need to determine what, if anything, can we or should we do with the area of North Main Street where it intersects with Hemingway Street,” Lannon said.

Town Management recently found a traffic study that was done in the area in 2010. Lannon said that she will schedule a meeting with the abutters in order to “make the best decision as the DPW makes its way up North Main Street.”
