Winchester Town Election Information

Here's some important information regarding Tuesday's elections.

On Tuesday, March 29, Winchester residents will head to the polls for the annual town elections. There will be three Board of Selectmen candidates, challengers and and incumbent vying for one seat on the board.

The assessed, average value of a home in Winchester is $757,500. If the override passes residents can expect to pay $204 more in taxes next year. That number will increase to $209 in 2013 and continue to gradually go up.

In January, Winchester residents voted to support the . The e, according to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) is $28,170,307. Out of that amount, the state is reimbursing the town $10,188,822 and Winchester will spend $17,981,485 on the project.

Beginning in 2012, residents can more a year in taxes or that project. That number will slowly decrease over the length of the bond, which is expected to be 25 years.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents have until noon on Monday to head to the Clerk’s office and fill out their absentee ballot. If residents already received an absentee ballot and have filled it out, they have until 8 p.m. Monday to drop it off at the .
