Back to School: Bus Routes and First Day Schedule

Here is everything you need to know about your child's first day of school.

It's finally that time of year. The new school year begins for all of Winchester this Wednesday, Sep. 8. That being said, below is a list of dates and times when students from around town will be starting their first day.

Lincoln, Muraco, Vinson-Owen

Students in grades 1 – 5 being school at 8:30 a.m. and are let out by 11:30 a.m. That schedule is in effect for both Wednesday and Thursday.

Ambrose and Lynch

Students in grades 1 – 5 being school at 8:45 a.m. and are let out by 11:45 a.m. That schedule is in effect for both Wednesday and Thursday.

St. Mary's

Wednesday will be an early release day for students in grades 1 -5. The day will rund from 8:10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. That first day is for grades 1-5 only. On Thursday the kindergarten students will have their first day of school. It will be an early release day for all grades; K-5 will run from  8:10am - 11:30am.

McCall Middle School

Students in grade six attend school from 7:45 a.m. through 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday. There they will get an opportunity to tour the school and become accustomed to their new surroundings.

Seventh and eighth grade students will arrive after the sixth graders leave, at 11:30 a.m. and are dismissed by 2:15 p.m. The sixth grade students will be out of the building by the time the older classes need to arrive.

Winchester High School

Students in grade nine attend school from 7:45 a.m. through 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday. There they will get an opportunity to tour the school and become accustomed to their new surroundings. At the end of the day there will be a chance for the freshman to attend a club fair and see all the different activities that are offered at the school.

Tenth, 11th and 12th grade students will arrive after the ninth graders leave, at 11:30 a.m. and are dismissed by 2:15 p.m. The ninth grade students will be out of the building by the time the older classes arrive. This will give the freshman an opportunity to get a feel for the school without 700 or so upperclassmen in the school.
