COA: Travels with My Paintbrush A Slide Show of Trips Presented by Susan Vrotsos

Travels with My Paintbrush A Slide Show of Trips Presented by Susan Vrotsos Tuesday, April 26 7:30 p.m. Pond Room (coffee and cookies available at 7 p.m.) Susan P. Vrotsos cannot remember a time when she left home without her sketchbook, and leaving home to explore and paint has been her passion for a very long time. Often family and friends would come along and they, too, began to sit, look and take note … either drawing or writing. Thus “Making Art in the Heart of Italy” was born ... an experience shared for many years with American travelers. In the intimacy of small groups going at a leisurely pace she has introduced art history, language and culture with the idea that bringing back art made on site captures the spirit of a place and deeply involves the traveler. She has also planned guided visits to outstanding art collections, both private and public.

About the Speaker “In my work I depend on sketches from nature, daily life, travels, theatre and ballet, which I then transform in my studio. My work is large, colorful, abstract…or as some have said, ‘Abstract Expressionist.’ In every piece I try to transmit the feeling I had at the first intense or relaxed moment when the sketch was made, the initial joy or memory put in the visual terms.” Susan has had many exhibitions, awards and memberships too numerous to mention, and has taught both in private classes, in schools and at the MFA. This program is presented by the Winchester Seniors Association Education Committee and is supported by the John and Mary Murphy Educational Foundation.
