WFEE Trivia Bee [PHOTOS, VIDEO]

Town Hall was abuzz Wednesday night for the 10th annual Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence (WFEE) Trivia Bee.

A few hundred people attended the community event which featured several rounds of trivia played by five 5th grade teams representing the local elementary schools as well as adult teams. 

There was a tie for first place between Lincoln and Lynch Elementary Schools, so they will be sharing the Trivia Bee Trophy this year. The Lincoln School team was made up of Adrienne Anderson, Joey Charchaflian and Henry Wheaton, while the Lynch School squad consisted of Venkat Rao, Michael Wentworth and Max Lu. 

Meanwhile, the Winchester High School Faculty team. Team members included Tom Gwin, Dave Benedetto and Mark Chase.

Event organizer Caren Connelly was pleased to see a record number of sponsors at the Trivia Bee, not to mention the estimated $25,000 raised through raffles and donations.

"I think it was fabulous," Connelly said. "...We had 49 teams and that's it for us. Forty-nine is a full-out (Trivia) Bee for us. I think it was a great night, people had a lot of fun and everyone did a great job and we appreciate everyone that came out."

The event raffle was "incredibly successful," Connelly said, raising more than $2,000. Connelly did not rule out the possibility that this year's Trivia Bee may have been the most successful in terms of financial donations. But, fundraising aside, Connelly was excited how the event came together without any hiccups along the way.

"I loved that people stay even after they lose the round to see if maybe they would have known that question," Connelly said. "Everyone is so good humored and good tempered, it is a great night ... We view this as a community-building event. The amount of money we raise is not as important to us as the fact that it is an opportunity for some many people to give back to WFEE, to be involved with WFEE and to have a fun time."

Over the past 20 years, WFEE has donated more than $3.3 million to Winchester Public Schools. In 2012, the organization donated new technology equipment to all elementary schools, McCall Middle School and Winchester High School.

The event hosts were Superintendent Bill McAlduff and Brian Milausks of Kidstock.
