Prom 'n Aid Offers Night of Dining, Dancing and More

WFEE's biggest fundraiser invites donors to get into the town spirit and aid local schools.

It's not every night that residents of Winchester get to carouse at But on May 7 the oganizers of the (WFEE) will pitch a tent on the grass and welcome guests to their annual spring fundraiser. 

Those in attendance are encouraged to wear prom attire, either retro or modern and show their true colors - Winchester's red and black. The night gets underway with the two-man duo Dirt Dogs playing acoustic guitar and guests mingling at the open bar.  

"We're are offering a new twist this year," said Executive Director Caren Connelly. "Charity blackjack, with professional dealers lets you pay to play for 10 or 15 minutes."

Guests will be treated to a dining experience created by resident parent Vittorio Ettore, chef and owner of Bistro 5 in West Medford, Connelly said.

The donated dance music of SIX, a six-man band, is making its third year, playing classic rock. Brian Milauskas of will act as auctioneer with some special items up for bid.

Bidders will vie for a Cuban dinner for eight made by a donor; a night of food and wine for the highest bidder and friends from hosted at the ; a stay at a five bedroom home on Martha's Vineyard; a beer tasting and barbeque event catered at the home of the winning bidder; a three-person golf game hosted by Superintendent of Schools William McAlduff in  Lexington followed by lunch at The Beacon Grill; or tickets to the last of the Harry Potter films where fans will arrive by limo.

A raffle item donated by Barmakian Jewelers and the raffle of a "mystery box" promises to intrigue and delight the winners.

All proceeds go to WFEE for system-wide intiatives not funded by federal, state or town school budgets, and for specific grant programs.
