Teachers Unpacking at Newly-Renovated Parkhurst

School will be ready for students Aug. 30, according to the superintendent.

The newly-renovated Parkhurst Elementary School has been moved into and teachers are currently unpacking and setting up their classrooms, according to Winchester Superintendent William McAlduff Jr.

“We’re absolutely on schedule to receive students Aug. 30,” he told the School Committee Tuesday at . “It’s seen quite a transformation; it’s really exciting.”

McAlduff said some painting and interior work still needs to be done, but the vast majority of the project has already been completed.

He also said the gymnasium floor will be installed during the last week of August and, therefore, won’t be available for use during the first week of school. However, .

Other School Committee news …

-- Construction on the Lynch Elementary School roof is moving forward and should be mostly finished by the start of school, according to McAlduff. If it’s not, workers will complete the project during non-school hours, he said.

McAlduff said drainage on the roof has already noticeably improved.

-- Winchester resident Cynthia R. Bohne was unanimously reappointed to a three-year term on the Educational Facilities Planning and Building Committee (EFPBC). School Committee members thanked Bohne for her ongoing service.
