GIRLS' RANKINGS

DIVISION 1

1. (1) Andover (8-0-2), (North, Merrimack Valley) – Pretty quiet week for the Golden Warriors, as the team had no games on the slate last week. However, next Thursday, Oct. 20, Andover will faceoff against the defending state champs – Central Catholic. Andover handed Central Catholic its only defeat of the season, 1-0.

2. (3) Central Catholic (10-1), (North, Merrimack Valley) – In its quest to repeat as state champions, Central Catholic has now won six in a row after its early-season defeat to Andover. But next week will prove a pivotal one for the team as it hosts Winchester and travels to Andover.

3. (2) Lincoln-Sudbury (10-0), (North, Dual County) – A year ago, Lincoln-Sudbury snuck into the playoffs with a .500 record, and surprised Lexington before falling to Concord-Carlisle (2-1). But this season, the Warriors won’t be surprising anybody as the team has yet to lose a game. That streak continued last week as the Warriors defeated Concord-Carlisle, 3-2.

4. (Unranked) Bishop Feehan (9-0-1), (Eastern Athletic Conference) – Be sure to keep an eye out for last year’s South Division 1 runner-up. After losing 2-1 to Franklin in the finals last year, Bishop Feehan has yet to lose a game this season.

5. (4) Lexington (11-1-2), (North, Middlesex) – An early-season loss to Concord-Carlisle is still the only blemish on the Lady Minuteman’s record. Lexington squeaked out 1-0 victories over Woburn and Chelsea, while tying Stoneham, 2-2.

6. (5) Peabody (8-0-2), (North, Northeastern) – The Tanners just continue to win. Peabody has won its last four games by outscoring opponents 25-1 – Salem (6-0), Winthrop (8-0), Saugus (7-0) and Swampscott (4-1).

7. (7) Winchester (8-2-2), (North, Middlesex) – The Lady Sachems have now won three in a row after losing to Lexington (3-1). This week saw Winchester handle Wilmington (3-0) and Reading (2-0).

8. (5) Concord-Carlisle (9-3) (North, Dual County) – At three losses, the Patriots have already lost more games than they did a year ago. But a 3-2 defeat on the road at Lincoln-Sudbury is nothing to fret about. The Warriors have now handed Concord two of its losses this season (they won 4-1 in September).

9. (8) Oliver Ames (8-2-1), (South, Hockomock) – It was another quiet week for Oliver Ames. But once the tournament rolls around, last years semi-finalist participant will once again challenge for a state title.

10. (10) Dartmouth (11-0), (South, Old Colony) – Dartmouth just keeps on winning. After earning the five seed and being upset in the second round last year, Dartmouth has yet to lose a game.

On the Bubble: Newton North, Franklin, Weymouth, Belmont.

DIVISION 2

1. (2) Canton (10-0-1), (South, Hockomock) – Canton has allowed eight goals all season – three came in its opening win against Duxbury.

2. (1) Medfield (9-0-3), (South, Tri-Valley) –Ties in its last two games – Norton (1-1) and Dover-Sherborn (2-2) – are not too concerning for last year’s state champions.

3. (3) East Bridgewater (12-0-1), (South, South Shore) – Dominating the regular season is nothing new for East Bridgewater. A year ago it secured the top seed in the tournament, before losing in the first round to No. 17 Ashland.

4. (4) Stoneham (5) (7-0-4), (North, Middlesex) – It was another slow week for the Spartans. Stoneham defeated Woburn (2-1) and then tied (its fourth of the season) Lexington (2-2).

5. (7) Duxbury, (8-1-2), (South, Patriot) – After making the South Division 2 finals a year ago, Duxbury looks ready to make it back there. It has shutout seven of its 11 opponents so far this season.

6. (8) Danvers (9-2), (Northeastern, Large) – Its only two losses so far this season are against some of the top teams in the state – Peabody (4-1) and Central Catholic (4-1). And since its loss to Peabody, Danvers has won four in a row. We’ll see if last year’s N0. 2 seed is as  good as last year when it travels to Andover at the end of the month.

7. (6) Hingham (8-1-2), (South, Patriot) – A loss to Whitman-Hanson (3-1) showed that the Patriot League won’t be a two-team race.

8. (5) Cardinal Spellman (8-2), (South, Catholic Central) – Spellman followed a 3-1 loss to Brockton with a 4-1 victory over Arlington Catholic.

9. (9) Wellesley (8-2), (South, Bay State) – After a slow start, Wellesley has now won five in a row, including a big 1-0 home win against Dedham that has Wellesley alone atop the Bay State League.

10. (5) Belmont (8-3-1), (North, Middlesex) – The defending North Division 2 champions have now gone undefeated in its last seven games (6-0-1), allowing only two goals during that stretch.

On the Bubble: Tewksbury, Dedham, Old Rochester, Whitman-Hanson
