The Sachems dominated the game, defeating Burlington, 28-7.

It was a packed house Saturday afternoon at for senior day as the Sachems dominated every aspect of the game to beat a tough Red Devils (6-4) squad.

The Sachems (4-6) totaled 292 yards on the ground as well as 160 yards in the air.  Quarterback Greg Thompson was impressive once again rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown as he piled up 278 of total offense.

The scoring began at the 6:15 mark in the first quarter when a Sachem drive was kept alive by a penalty on the Red Devils.

Brandon Nowell capitalized on the Burlington mistake and ran it in for a one-yard touchdown to make it 6-0 in favor of the Sachems. After a goal line stand from the Sachem defense, Thompson led the offense down the length of the field where he ran in for a five-yard touchdown. He then converted on the two-point conversion making it 14-0. The drive was helped by a 49-yard completion to Joe Ntege and a 20-yard slant pattern to Will Herbert.

"These kids play like they are 9-0 and a great football team. We were a young team in September and it showed, but we are a lot better than 4-6. We come to play every week. I am very happy for our seniors," said Sobolewski.

The balanced attack of the run game and passing game led the Sachems to another score after halftime midway through the third quarter. Nowell ran another one in for a one-yard touchdown.  Chris White's point after was good making it 21-0 Sachems.

"Our little left guard Pat Norris is a warrior and goes unnoticed. He is 180 pounds and makes it so easy for our running backs to run," said Sobolewski.

Burlington responded at the end of the third quarter on a touchdown run by Kyle Shields making it 21-7. Winchester took control once again on an eight-yard touchdown run by Josh Rodriguez who had a huge day.

Rodriguez finished with 105 yards on the ground to go along with a touchdown. It was a 12-play 81-yard drive to seal the game at 28-7.

The Red Devils could only generate 29 rushing yards and 102 passing yards while the Sachems totaled 452 yards of total offense.

"We just played a very good football team. I showed our team a box score from 2005 when Burlington came back from a 27-6 deficit versus the Sachems. We were not quitting until the end of the game and that is exactly what we did," said Sobolewski.

The Sachems will look to ride their momentum on Thanksgiving Day when they take on the Woburn Tanners.
