Winchester Gymnast Prepares for Olympic Run

According to WHDH, Winchester High School graduate - Alicia Sacramone - will be attempting to qualify for the 2012 Olympics.

There are just 346 days until some of the top athletes in the world will converge on London for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

According to WHDH, one of those competitors attempting to make a run at next year's summer games is Winchester gymnast, Alicia Sacramone. If she qualifies, it would be the second time Sacramone will compete at the Olympics. She took the silver medal in the team performance at Beijing in 2008.

"I competed in 2008 in Beijing and didn’t really have my best performance, so I decided to come back and give it one more go before I was too old to do gymanstics anymore," Sacramone explained to NBC’s Today Show.

"She definitely did say she was finished after Beijing. It was kind of a funny joke with us, we even had a countdown for her when she finished. But she set new goals for herself and new dreams for herself," fellow Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin told WHDH.

At the World Championships she has taken gold three times – vault (2010), team (2007) and floor (2005).
